2006 KApOA Futurity Rules
All weanlings shown in this futurity must meet the KY Bred eligibility requirements.
The KY Bred definition is as follows: Horses foaled prior to 2007 showing on their ApHC registration that the animal was foaled in Kentucky. In addition, the breeder listed on the registration form must show a Kentucky address or the Appaloosa sire of the animal must have stood in Kentucky at the time of the breeding. Registered Appaloosa foals of 2007 and later must be born in Kentucky, show a Kentucky breeder address and be sired by an Appaloosa stallion standing in Kentucky.
There will be three weanling futurity classes:
Weanling Colts ( includes geldings ) - Weanling Fillies - Most Colorful Weanlings
The weanling colts and fillies may be shown in the futurity with breeding stock ApHC papers. The most colorful weanling class will require that the horse have a regular ApHC registration certificate. Exhibitors must present the original ApHC registration papers to the KApOA entry booth at the show.
Both the owner and exhibitor of the horse must be members of KApOA.
The futurity will be held on Saturday night, September 9th during the BGSApHC show.
There shall be a nomination fee of $50.00 per class entry. This fee will be non-refundable unless the KApOA Pointkeeper determines that the weanling fails to meet the KY Bred definition. The nomination form and a copy of the weanling’s ApHC registration certificate must be received by the Pointkeeper by August 1, 2006. The revenue from the nomination fees may be used for administrative costs of the futurity. The Kentucky Breeders’ Incentive Funds proceeds designated by KApOA to the Futurity must be paid to the Futurity exhibitors.
Payback will be to a minimum of five placings based on the Kentucky Breeders’ Incentive Funds available. It is the intent of KApOA to pay as many placings as possible. This decision will be made each year by the KApOA Breeding/Halter Committee. Awards will be paid at the Futurity, subject to the time of receipt of the Kentucky Breeders’ Incentive Funds.
All disputes will be decided by the KApOA Breeding/Halter Committee.

Here's another thumbs up for the Equine Industry in general. One of our appaloosa mares named "WinnieCoos Full Moon" is on her way to Costa Rica to represent the Appaloosa Breed. Her barn name is "Blair" and she's currently bred to our AQHA stallion, "Heza Dun Legend". She is registered red raon #608557 foaled in 2002. Blair was noticed by Ted DeGennaro (High Delta Exotics-Media Contact Person) & purchased by Jeff Swank, (Delhi,Louisiana Rancher & Operator of High Delta Drive) & Dusty Taylor (THE Louisiana Bullrider-Rodeo Hall of Fame & Taylor Made Auctions of Ruston, Louisiana). These 2 guys teamed up with Panaca of Costa Rica where many equines of all breeds will go to represent that particular breed at the brand new theme park for domestic animals.
First, animals such as, Blair, had to undergo at least 5 tests: Leptospirosis, EIA, Brucellosis, Piroplasmosis and West Nile Virus. Blair passed with flying colors.....as she is a very colorful girl! After blood was drawn for these tests, Equine 4-way vaccination & microchip were given. Blair was then quarantined for 2 weeks until her departure. She will be staying in Louisiana for approx 30 days for training and handling. Then, she will head to Florida via truck/trailer to be boarded on a Boeing 747 Jet to her final destination, Costa Rica.
At Panaca, some visitors (adults & children) will be able to view, pet and learn about breeds of horses, swine, bovine, canine and exotics for the first time in their lives. They will also be able to watch some horses perform to music, see riders and acrobats in costumes and watch the cowboys exhibit their talent.
Panaca also offers much more, day or night, such as, history of natural products such as, coffee, cocoa, and vegetables. Panaca will be known as one of the most beautiful, relaxing, pleasant, and enjoyable places to visit they claim to be (an unforgettable experience).
Just thought I would share this happily ever after story with everyone in the appaloosa horse world....way to go Blair!
